Hi, welcome to our website Totally Off Our Grid!
A name brought to life from us both being a little crazy and the start of our crazy off grid adventure.
Having looked at other people who are living the dream, watching YouTube and reading up on other peoples journeys living off grid, they all seem to start from people already having the land and starting to build a home. We decided to start documenting our journey from day one! Day one for us means day one. Not only do we need to buy the land, we also need to raise money for the land and learn a huge amount in the process.
We decided that growing our own food was the first skill we needed to master, and learn and evolve from year to year. We will keep you updated on any further advancements towards our dream, whether that is new skills learnt or lessons learnt , and hopefully the day we can purchase our own land.
Thanks for stopping by to read Totally Off Our Grid, come by again soon.

Most of the seeds have been planted and we have a lot that have started sprouting. We are definitely eager to see the difference this year with the hula hoop netted frames Tony made, after a lot of our veggies either got demolished by birds or caterpillars last year. We feel like we’ve given them … Continue reading The Greenhouse Life
Hi all, Hope everyone is safe and well. As some of you know, we fenced off part of the front garden to give us a larger area of back garden. In an earlier post we used this area to build a poly-tunnel and place it ready for us to try and grow in a greenhouse. … Continue reading Going Green(house)
In our last post, Tony showed off his awesome creations for keeping pests and birds off our veggies. We have since been out and sowed most of the seeds for the veggies we going to grow this year. As we used the first large raised bed for the potatoes, we decided to mix it up … Continue reading Sunshine’s Out and Here We Go Again 😊
Hi all, hope everyone is safe and well. After last years experimentation on the potatoes, we decided to change the way we wanted to grow them. Instead of growing in bags (which didn’t yield a big crop just a couple of meals) we want to try for a bigger crop. Having built two large raised … Continue reading Raising our Hopes
Its been a while since I last posted, but to be honest we haven’t been up to much. We have spent some time enquiring about some land, but unfortunately we were to late, as it was gone just days before our enquiry. So the search for our off grid haven continues. I must admit the … Continue reading Spring Nearly Upon Us
So we are firmly into the new year, and low and behold we are straight into another lock down. But the seasons wait for no one, and we need to start making a proper plan for the garden this year. Our hope is to be a bit more organised, which we are already leaps and … Continue reading Happy New Year!
